This is Dusty works for the St. Croix county sheriff’s office, we’re investigators today obviously you experienced a pretty traumatic incident and we just want to talk to you about what transpired today go into a little bit further details um. Dittman: alright so we’re going to start from the beginning of your day today. So It’s my understanding you and your group of friends, you guys met at Stillwater high school and you guys all rode over to Apple River with Alex in his vehicle. Is that accurate?

Landonmm it was 17 minute drive so 17 after the time that we-actually we probably sat in the parking lot for probably 10 15 minutes and then we left so 17 minutes from there so

Dittmanno you’re good, I just trying to get an idea, it sounds like you guys all have a similar time frame so do you recall what part of the Apple you went to or rented-did you rent tubes

Landonand we just going down the river, we ate at one point. You know thenormal things-everybody going down the river and then

Landonthat’s what’s going on with my day but um yeah so we just floating down the river and then once we got towards I’m pretty sure-well actually I’m not sure at all

He was just walking aroundlooking crazy weird and he had like goggles on, snorkel. He just lookedsuper weird and we were all like oh why don’t you have a tube. Whatever,whatever. Just like calling out the situation of it [inaudible overlap]
Dittmanjust chirping him a little bit. Was he saying anything to you guys or?
Landonyeah he I mean immediately you just the vibe of woah this guy’s not he’snot [inaudible] he gave me a very creepy vibe

Landonhe looked like he was either on drugs or on something just completelylike just a psychopath not looking real- he didn’t look-he didn’t look atpeople like a normal person looks at someone he just-

Landonjust pure craziness in his eyes and he just started clearly like like takingcrazy offense to someone just saying that. You would think if he was just a normal person he would probably just like these kids are just beingwhatever you know I’m just minding my own whatever you know but helooked crazy like offended by it immediately. He came up to us and then we were like woah this is getting weird my buddy was videotaping thewhole thing and then this guy just starts
Dittmanso let me stop you for just a minute we you guys, the first time you encountered him were you guys floating, stopped

Landonah actually I think we were floating we were kind of like we were really decently close to him like when we first started looking at him
Dittmanwhat do you mean by decently close, like me to you away? Further
Landonprobably like 20 feet away

Landonlike 20 feet away from us. I think it was pretty shallow there cause
Dittmanjust to gauge about 20 feet so maybe to the water away
Landonyeah, yeah
Dittmanok so that’s about 20 feet ok
Landon he was like-we started slowing down cause our butts were touching the bottom or whatever it was super shallow and then he started towards us and then like one person jumped out of their tube cause he was like now like grabbing on to our tubes I think seriously just like right next to us so then people started getting up and moving around and then he-when we first came at him he was like we were right here and I was positioned at him this way and he was like over here and then like somehow he ended up being right behind him and he was like 2 feet away from and looking just crazy and by this time there’s people like other people are seeing this weird thing taking place and probably thinking why is this old man-and we’re all screaming like woah woah what’s going on. What’s this guy doing this? This guy’s crazy, he’s weird and now people are also saying like what is this guy doing. People around could clearly tell that this situation was not right

Dittmanok so there’s another group of people that heard you guys obviously c chirping this guy talking to him, they get involved, what do they do?
Landonwell so a girl comes up, I think she had blonde hair, she comes up and she was like in his face cause as I said this guy was being really weird she could clearly tell something was wrong so she was also talking back saying leave these kids I assume something like that

Landonand then I just saw him punch her crazy and then she hit the ground and then immediately other guys came as soon as he punched the girl. Abunch of guys came got on him, got on the ground and then the next thing I knew I saw someone cut open on the ground with their intestines out and I was just stuck just looking at what was going on completely just like what was going on

LandonI don’t know cause I think the stomach thing happened definitely before by the time cause I was looking at that and I remember looking back andI think Isaac was kind of on a tube and I just saw pure blood coming intothe water just spraying out of him and I was just like what is going on,what is going on. Some one was pulling off the guy with the intestines somebody was pulling him to the side and all of the sudden my buddy Owen and Alex started taking Isaac to the shore and then I was just stuck I couldn’t move. I was just going crazy and I was by my friend Ryan and then I was about to go to Isaac and Ryan was like oh no stay here for asecond. just I don’t even know. I was just standing there crazy. Confused

All I saw-the first thing I saw was someone laying on ground with their intestine out and then I like probably blanked out for a second and was just like what- and then I looked back and just saw Isaacjust on the tube bleeding out and then like I said people pulling them out and I was with my buddy Ryan for a second cause he wanted me to staywith him and eventually ended up walking all the way over to Isaac andseeing Isaac just
DittmanSo prior to this encounter, with this guy today. How would you say the day was like good vibes or

Landonjust going down the river just [inaudible] everyone around us talking to everyone just having a good time. Everyone seemed normal everyone was having a good time floating down the river everything was
Dittmanso, so if I’m and correct me if I’m wrong, if I’m understanding this correctly you guys kind of had one encounter with this guy and then youhad another encounter with him or did this kind of evolve into one
08:28Landonnah it all happened, it was all one thing. He comes over boom, boom, boom. Like I said then he comes to the back and then he’s it’s just all onething. Calling him out for looking weird, he immediately comes up to us,he’s saying crazy stuff I can’t even tell you what he was saying but

Landonno he was just walking up like fast clearly coming at you like if I was coming at you like

Landonlike you would be able to tell I was coming at you. Like clearly coming at you. He wasn’t sprinting or anything he was in water

Landonwell I think actually he had said a couple times throughout it he wastelling me he would ask how drunk is everybody here and like I would sayI’m drunk to be honest and then he would be like I’m not that drunk right now I’m just like-

Landonyeah If I would say anything he was probably the least drunk there
Dittmanok alright did you every see Isaac talk to this guy or say anything to him or approach him
Landonno, no like I said we were all talking just pointing out the weirdness and then he came up and we could all immediately sense the situation was weird and something was wrong so like I said we all got out of our tubes and then he was still coming at us and then the girl came in and did her thing and then she got punched other people come in. we were all just kind of standing around just like as soon as he came over we pretty much just stopped talking like woah woah what’s going on this is crazy like

11:23DittmanSo after you see the intestines you realize somethings not right, people bleeding-what happens from there
Landonthey pull intestine guy off to the side, pulled Isaac off to the side startpumping his chest. Owen was-Owen was sitting right here, Al was righthere so they were both really on him. They drug him out. And then other people started helping. People came up to me trying to hug me and stuffwhatever just everyone was kind of just sitting around, standing aroundand then like someone helped Jawahn find his phone. Someone found his phone, we didn’t even find his phone and then our stuff kind floatedaway I was able to get my phone
